2010 Chartering Details

RESERVATIONS:

We suggest that you call and reserve early to be certain of getting the yacht and dates of your choice. We will be happy to take a reservation deposit of $500 ($1,000 for motor yachts) by phone using your Visa or Master Card. If you would rather send us a check, we will hold a tentative reservation for you for seven days until we receive your check.

Once you have made your reservation, please complete and submit the Sailing Resume form on our website. If you are 'computer challenged,' we will be happy to send you a form. Once we have approved your resume, you will be sent a charter contract and detailed information about the yacht you have chartered. If for any reason your resume is not approved, all deposit money will be returned immediately.

Please also let us know if you wish to Early Board after 4pm ($75 charge) or if you wish to reserve an inflatable dinghy with oars. The dinghies are available for $20.00 per day, on a limited basis, and must be reserved in advance.

We also offer USCG Captained Charters aboard some of the yachts for up to six passengers. Please call for specific rates on these yachts.

CHARTER FEES:

The balance of the charter fee will be due in full two weeks prior to your charter. We will accept a personal check for the charter balance or you may let us know if you wish to charge it to your credit card.

SECURITY DEPOSIT:
All of our charter yachts are fully insured, but the charterer is responsible for negligent loss or damage of the charter yacht in the amount of the insurance deductible. We require a security deposit equal to the insurance deductible of the charter yacht prior to boarding. Credit cards may not be used for Security Deposits. We do accept cash, cashiers checks, travelers' checks, or money orders for the Security Deposit. We also will accept a personal check for the Security Deposit provided we receive it two weeks prior to your charter. All security deposits are deposited into a non-interest bearing escrow account. Assuming no loss or damage to the yacht, it will be returned to you within ten working days after the completion of the charter and a thorough inspection of the yacht by CC/TAYS.

CHARTER TIMES:
Our charter time frames are 9am the first charter day to 4pm the last charter day. Early Boarding is after 4pm the evening before the start of a charter time frame. For example:
    9am Saturday to 4pm Sunday (2 DAYS) 9am Friday to 4pm Sunday (3 DAYS)
    9am Monday to 4pm Friday (5 DAYS) 9am Monday to 4pm Sunday (one week)
Our rates are based on the number of days chartered, rather than which day of the week you start. We do not offer Sunday morning check outs.

ARRIVALS:
We will check with you by phone to confirm your arrival time. When you arrive in Oxford, please come directly to our office located at 102 South Morris Street across from the Oxford Market. If necessary we will collect your security deposit and then escort you to your yacht. Your yacht will be "iced" and ready for your arrival.

LATE ARRIVALS:
We will be happy to accommodate your arrival schedule as best we can. Our office hours during charter season are approximately 9am to 5pm daily. Please let us know in advance if you will be arriving after hours. We will make arrangements with you over the phone to give you the location at Mears Yacht Haven and lock combination of your yacht. All yachts will be "iced" and the "lights on" prior to your arrival, no matter how late that may be.

WHAT TO BRING:
All of our charter yachts are privately owned, immaculate, and very well equipped. You will find all necessary safety gear, navigational charts, binoculars, ample galleyware, minor spices, trash bags and cleaning supplies aboard. You need to bring only your personal items and provisions. Pillows and blankets are aboard all yachts, and sheets and towels are available for $15.00 per person, or you may bring your own. The trawlers are equipped with all linens as standard onboard. All yachts have propane grills.

Please be certain to wear only white soled shoes. Any black marks left on a yacht will be charged a hefty cleaning fee!

CHARTER CHECKOUT:
Prior to departing on your charter, you will be thoroughly checked out aboard the charter yacht. A complete charter operations manual of the charter yacht is aboard for your review at all times, and we will go over the complete operation of all systems of the yacht with you. Should it be necessary, CC/TAYS reserves the right to require a charterer retain an instructor onboard, at the charterer's expense, until the instructor feels that the charterer is capable of handling the yacht without supervision or assistance. No boat may leave the slip until a complete checkout has been completed. Should you Early Board your charter yacht, the checkout will be done the next morning at an agreed upon time. Generally, the check out takes 1-2 hours, depending on the yacht chartered.

CHARTER RETURN:
Prior to the completion of your charter, you will be expected to refuel and have the holding tank pumped out before returning the yacht to its slip by 4pm. Please allow enough time to accomplish this. All yachts are to be returned in the same condition as when they went out. All yachts are to be rinsed off and all trash removed. Be sure to double check for your belongings, as shipping forgotten items can be very expensive!

You will be required to fill out our "post-charter check in form." Failure to complete THIS FORM may result in an additional delay in the return of your Security Deposit. As much as we would like to, it is not possible for us to do a complete check out of the vessel upon your return while you wait. However, all yachts are thoroughly checked before the next charter. Your security deposit will be returned to you within ten working days after the completion of your charter and a completed check in form, pending no loss or damage to the yacht.

CANCELLATIONS:
In the event of a cancellation, one half of your reservation deposit will be refunded provided that CC/TAYS is notified within forty- five days prior to the charter date. If notification is less than forty - five days, CC/TAYS reserves the right to retain the full deposit pending on CC/TAYS' ability to obtain an equivalent charter for the same period. Your full deposit may be applied to a rescheduled date during the current season. Only one reschedule per season permitted. No monies or reservations carried to the next charter season. Should we find it necessary to cancel your charter for any reason other than weather, you will be issued a full refund.
