‘Island Wind’ is a beautiful 2005 model year Catalina 36 new to our fleet for the 2008 season! She is ideal size for two couples, or small families that want to have a two cabin, one head layout. She is equipped with a roller furling headsail and roller furling mainsail, which makes for easy sail handling. With her tall rig she sails well, even in light air (not that we ever have that problem on the Chesapeake in the summer)! Her wing keel helps keep her level if the wind pipes up while sailing. Her cockpit is quite large for her size, offering plenty of room for all aboard to enjoy a beautiful sail, or a picturesque sunset on the Chesapeake Bay. She is equipped with a dodger and a bimini if the weather should turn inclement while you are aboard. Instrumentation is all right at the helmsman’s fingertips & easy to see. Down below, she is well appointed with a very large v-berth in the forward cabin with plenty of storage in a large hanging locker and plenty of drawer space to stow all of your gear. This cabin features a custom mattress much like your mattress at home, and makes for a great night’s rest aboard. Do not worry; your family and friends staying in the athwartships aft cabin double will also be afforded the comfort of a custom mattress as well! The head is forward to port and offers direct access from the forward cabin as well as a second entry from the main salon. There is ample space and storage throughout the light main salon & spacious galley. The main salon features a large L shaped settee to port with a bulkhead table on main bulkhead and a convertible dinette to starboard with the navigation station aft to starboard. There is a large flat screen TV forward on the starboard side for your entertainment pleasure. The galley is aft to port, and features all of the amenities of home with a large, double sink, ample galleyware, and a microwave for use on 110 volt power. If you are at a marina with shore power, turn on the air conditioning & sleep comfortably! Stepping into her large cockpit with full dodger and bimini protection is great, and she even has a walk down transom with swim ladder. Forward there is ample deck space, large anchor well & windlass, and wide side decks to move about. She is equipped with a wing keel.
